Philip Hahn was born in Düsseldorf in 2009, began playing the piano at the age of one and a half, was accepted as a young student at the age of four and started school at the age of five. He skipped two school classes and has been studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp since 2020.

 

At the age of six he made his orchestral debut at the Philharmonie in Essen with the Piano Concerto by Joseph Haydn Hob. XVIII:11, which he later performed again with the Mihail Jora Philharmonic Orchestra in Bacau. Philip made his 90min solo debut at the International Music Summer Campus Cleve at the age of eight and played there on various stages in the Netherlands and Germany. Philip has also performed in Russia, Poland, Romania, Moldova, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Japan.

 

Philip has already been seen in many important concert halls and in the Philharmony of Essen, Koblenz, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Laieszhalle/Hamburg, the Philharmony Bacau and the Oji Hall in Tokyo and has performed as a soloist and/or with orchestra as part of a wide variety of events. These include the Ronald McDonald Children's Aid Gala 2015/Vienna, "Wünsch Dir Was"/Düsseldorf, "Mozart in Moll"/Frankfurt, the "Kleine Sommerfestival" Junge Überflieger/Munich and the Moselmusikfestival 2015 and 2016.

 

In 2016, Philip performed Mozarts orchestral rondo KV 382 in the Stadthalle/Gladbeck. In 2017 and 2018 he did concerts at the Chopin Festival/Poland and also performed at the South Tyrolean Festival in 2018. In 2019 he played the 2nd Piano Concerto by L.v. Beethoven and conducted the Alion Baltic International Symphony Orchestra in Riga in parallel from the piano. In the same year he played his own composition "Weapons of Light - Fantasia" as a soloist for the first time together with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Moldova in Chisinau. Philip has been awarded many first national and international prizes, including the Mendelssohn Competition, the Bach Competition Köthen, the International Concorso MusicalMuseo/Sicily and the "Grand Piano in Palace" in St. Petersburg for his interpretation of the second Beethoven Concerto.

 

In 2020, Philip appeared in front of the camera for the Czech/Italian feature movie "IL BOEMO" in the role of the young Mozart. The historical film was shot at original locations in Italian and will premiere in Prague on 19 October 2022.

 

Philip is regularly featured in newspapers and on television. Noteworthy documentaries about him and his older sister Laetitia were last broadcast on ARD-Brisant in 2021. He has also been a guest of famous late night shows „TVtotal“ (hosted by Stefan Raab) and Little Big Stars (hosted by Thomas Gottschalk).
